New Dawning Children’s Home

New Dawning Children’s Home was founded in 1974 by Dr. Vernon D. Wood. He and his wife Charlotte ran it until his death in 1985. Since then his son Dr. Vernon G. Wood has taken over the operations of the Children’s Home and has added more buildings to house the new water system and even a building that will be used as a shop to teach the kids some skills that will stay with them even after they leave like carpentry. Currently we have 21 kids at the home. Recently, because of the crises at the U.S. and Mexico border there have been a lot of children that have been left in Mexico and the Department of Child Services of the state of Tamaulipas has approached us and asked us if we would be willing to accept children from other countries. We are in need of adding more dormitories immediately to accommodate this huge crises. The cost of building new dorms and bathrooms that will house another 30 kids is approximately $35,000 U.S. dollars.
